In the summer of 2018 one of our families moved to live in Kenya. Their little girl had been attending Elswick House for some time and when they arrived in Kenya, she was enrolled at the Stepping Stones Kindergarten in Nairobi. Her parents thought it was, in many ways, like Elswick House. Their grounds are not unlike ours, featuring windings pathways, tall trees and flowers, climbing frames, a play house, a giant sand pit ...... sounds familiar? Check out their website at:-
We seem to be alike in other ways too, not least in their wonderful staff, and they even have a healthy eating programme to match our Good Munching Guide.
Since the summer 2018 we have been exchanging photographs, video clips, ideas and information about our Nurseries and sharing it all with the mainly older children. We are making a scrapbook about Stepping Stones and the lives of the children there. Potentially this is a wonderful opportunity for our children to gain an insight into the lives of children in a very different part of the world to their own. The idea of exchanging pictures and video messages is really exciting.
We are also sponsoring two children, who live in a very deprived area nearby. Roselyne is a little girl from a very poor home, lacking most basic necessities. She frequently goes without food. Jackson has severe disabilities resulting in massive mobility issues. Both children live in the Kibera slum area and attend the Angel Kindergarten, supported by Stepping Stones, which feeds and educates the children up to the age of 5 years.
